Pearly Kings and Queens dress in costumes adorned with pearl buttons. It's a traditional cockney thing, apparently, and these suits are passed down like heirlooms from generation to generation. Most if not all areas have their own, and it's kind of a big deal. This morning, we went to the Brick Lane Beigel Bake (it ain't Tal's but it's good enough) for breakfast and saw a pair in there. They had what I assume was a Pearly Prince with them too. Imagine our delight.
